Pet owners are responsible for preventing their pets from becoming a public nuisance for the sake of community members. Dogs are not permitted to run freely except on the owner's property and the maximum fine for an unleashed dog is $100.00 plus court cost. Any citizen can file a complaint about a nuisance animal by calling the Police Department at (330) 875-2871.

If you find a stray animal, contact Animal Control at (330) 438-9843. If you lose your pet, contact Animal Control and the Stark County Humane Society at (330) 453-5529. To release your pet from the shelter, you must pay a fine.

Names of nuisance trappers for undomesticated animals can be obtained from the Police Department or the State Wildlife Representative at (330) 823-6627. Removal services of dead animals on roadways within the city limits is handled by the Service Department at (330) 875-5644. The County Sheriffs Department can be contacted at (330) 430-3800 for removal of those animals outside city limits.
