Our Fire Department does more than provide fire protection, rescue and EMS services to Louisville residents. Members of the Fire Department are also active in the school system, providing Fire Safety Education to all grade levels. They also perform fire and building inspection and provide training for the public. The firefighters maintain an aluminum can drop-off point, located at the recycling center at 1150 W. Main Street. All money generated from can recycling is donated to the Akron Children's Burn Center.

The Fire Department employs up to 30 part-time city workers who respond on a volunteer basis, but are paid while on call. One part-time Fire Chief, four Fire Captains, and 30 Firefighters/Emergency Medical Technicians constitute the Department. The Department receives general training in all areas, groups of individuals are trained in specialty areas, such as hazardous materials and rescue. These courses are in addition to continuing education hours required by the State of Ohio.
