Detective Bureau

 

The detective bureau currently has two full time police officers assigned to it who split their time between the detective bureau and the patrol division each week. The detectives work alongside the patrol division and with other area law enforcement agencies, government agencies and courts in order to provide the best possible service for solving and deterring criminal activity. Investigations are conducted using modern methods such as various internet capabilities as well as standard police work and practices to solve the various crimes that occur within the city.    

 

The detective bureau conducts investigations into crimes which have occurred or originated within the city limits. Many times these are cases in which the patrol officers that handled the original call, were unable to follow up or complete the case within their shift or the following shift. Detectives investigate a multitude of crimes ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. They also attempt to put together clusters of criminal activity such as thefts from vehicles and attempt to locate and charge suspects. Detectives are also available to assist patrol units on an as needed basis for major crimes.
 

We currently have one detective assigned to the Stark Metro Narcotics Unit and to the Alliance Police Department Special Response Team on a part-time basis. This cooperation and participation with these agencies provides the city with the ability to utilize the resources of both of those agencies in the event they are needed. In the past few years, we have utilized assistance from both agencies and their officers in the execution of search warrants and also calls for patrol service. Participation with the Stark Metro Narcotics Unit also brings to the department forfeited monies and vehicles. This has afforded us the ability to purchase equipment and make use of the vehicles for investigations.

 

We always welcome any citizen to come forward with any information into any type of illegal activity, and see each citizen as an extra pair of eyes to assist us.
