The
Louisville Community Programming Department maintains programs for kids
ages 3-18, & adults. We implement a wide variety of programs such as
organized baseball/softball/t-ball (kids), co-ed softball (adults), bus
trips (adults), fishing derbies (May & October), jump rope clinic
(August), tennis league & lessons (kids & adults), Easter egg
hunt, Constitution Lift-Off (September), bowling leagues (kids), co-ed
volleyball (adults), and many more 1 day events.
We are proud
members of the following organizations: Ohio Parks and Recreation
Association (OPRA), National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA),
& National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS).
The
Louisville Community Programming Department also has a Recycling
Drop-off Center and is open from 8:00 - 5:00 pm, 5 days a week for your
convenience. The recycling center is located on the West side of the
Constitution Center, 1022 West Main St. The center has been operating
since January 2001. The City of Louisville would like to take this time
to thank all of those who have been recycling. But please do not drop
anything off that is not listed on the bin.
Violators will be prosecuted.

Skate Park Fundraising Bowl-A-Thon
Big Thanks!
With the
efforts from our community businesses, residents, skate park
fundraising committee & many others, we raised $1,400
help build the new skate park in
Louisville
.
I want to
personally thank individuals and business for their volunteer
work, donated food, prizes & money for our Bowl-A-Thon which
was held on Saturday, April 12th at the Louisville

| Horseback Riding Clinic

Horseback Riding Clinic at Hobby
Horse Farm,
4544 Maplegrove Ave NE.
Starting November/2007-March/2008
(Specific times & days will be given by a Trainer from Hobby
Horse Farm after signups are taken)
It’s a 6 week clinic-once a
week– one hour sessions
Fee is
$170.00-for ages 5 through adults.
You will learn basic horse care, feeding & why it is so
important,
grooming, riding, & tack-saddles, head-stalls, bit’s,
& halters.
Must wear jeans and a shoe/boot with a heel
on it
*****HELMETS REQUIRED****
(Hobby Horse will supply helmets if necessary)

I
want to thank all the coach’s for this year’s
Volleyball League. I think the season went
real well. I especially want to thank Carol
Simmons for all her work throughout the season.
Each year this program gets better thanks to all
the volunteers.
If
you follow the Co-Ed Volleyball games here is the

3rd Annual Easter Egg
Hunt
We
actually pulled off the Easter Egg Hunt among all the snow
that arrived a week prior. Thanks to the City of
Louisville Service Department for clearing a path for us
to be able to have the hunt at Metzger Park Parking Lot.
We
could not have done the Easter egg hunt without the
generous donation from the Louisville Legion! Thanks
again! We had over 300 kids and 4000 eggs hidden at
Metzger Park Parking Lot. The Easter Bunny & his
helper showed up to help us find the eggs. I want to
thank all my volunteers for there help during the day and
they are: Marlene Senter, Brooke Skelton, Corey Skelton,
Alicia Danford, Woodie, Brian, & Sue Goodnight from
Woodies & Son Bargain House, Louisville City

12th Annual Halloween
Fishing Derby
On a cold October day we had
kids participate in our 12th Halloween Fishing Derby dressed up
as witches, ninjas, clowns, princesses, gangster, pirates and
many more costumes. Over 50 kids participated in this year’s
Derby. Every child received a participation ribbon, food, treat
bag, and a fun day. Thanks to all the children who came out to
the Derby.
Trophies were presented for 1st place for the longest fish &
1st place for most fish caught in each age group. Here are the
winners from each age group:

A special THANKS to the American Legion for their donation of
money for our derby to provide fish, prizes, food, drinks, misc.
supplies and trophies. Without their donation we would not be
able to continue the Derbies. We greatly appreciate it!
Thanks to the following for their donation of supplies for the
derby: Suzie Robbins Manager of Pizza Hut for the donation of
pizza, Mike Case owner of Mike’s Milann’s for the donation
of equipment, Robin Brimf with Grinders Above & Beyond,
Amanda Perkins with McDonald’s It’s nice to see our
community pull together so our kids can have some fun!!!!
I would also like to thank everyone who volunteered their time
to make our Derby fun for the kids: Gene Saeger, Brooke Skelton,
Marlene Senter, Police Department, Parks Department, Fire
Department, Eric Hilson, Jimmy Jones, & Steve Hackler.

2007 Louisville Recreation Softball & Baseball Picnic

The
Louisville Recreation Department held their Recreation
Baseball/Softball Picnics August 6,th 8th,
& 13th for everyone ranging from 3 years old to
15 years old who participated in the City’s summer ball
program with a total of 1500 people in attendance during the
three days. The Recreation Department & volunteers
served over 80 large pizzas (for coaches & players), punch,
& desserts (graciously provided by parents of the
teams). Each child received a trophy for there dedication
and hard work learning the fundamentals of
baseball/softball. The picnic’s are a fun way to thank
all the children, parents, grandparents and especially the
coaches that help make this year a big success! With out your
support and leadership for the 800 children that participated,
they could not have had as much fun as they did. The
Fire Department brought out the fire trucks and sprayed all the
kids down each night. What a great team effort!!!

The Louisville Recreation Department would like to give a big
thanks to everyone that donated their time for the
picnics: Eagles (donation of money for pizza and supplies)
Mike Case owner of Mike’s/Milann’s (donation of misc.
items), McDonalds (orange drink & cups),The Louisville
Service Department (for all their dedicated work throughout the
season), The Park Department (all their help throughout the
year), The Louisville Fire Department: for bringing the fire
truck s to every picnic to spray the kids down with the fire
hose, Pizza Hut, Eric Hilson, Conner Seamann, Brooke Skelton,
Chad Gimmi, Corey Skelton, Seth Porter. McGruff the Crime Dog,
and all the coaches & parents for all of their volunteer
time!

Remember this program is for the kids
to have fun and learn ball skills.
Hope to see everyone out again next year. Again, thank you
coaches and parents for your support.

2007 Jumping For Joy Jump Rope Clinic

Once again another successful Jump Rope Clinic. Over
seventy jumpers participated in the Louisville Recreation
Department’s Seventh Annual Jump Rope Clinic which was held at
Metzger Park Pavilion from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on August 1st-3rd.

’s Leaping Leopards Demonstration Jump Rope Team and Coach
Joanie Aljancic taught various forms of Chinese jump rope,
single rope, jumping, partner jumping, long rope jumping rhyme
jumping, high-low water jumping, stunt jumping and double dutch.
Emphasis was placed on all the fun you can have jumping rope.
Participants ranged from 5 years of age to 10 years of age.
The Recreation Department provided jump ropes and Jumping for
Joy T-shirts for all the jumpers. Thanks to the City workers who
arranged the picnic tables in the pavilion so that the jumpers
had a level floor with shade to jump.
Special thanks go
to the following Leaping Leopards who have their time to teach.I
would also like to thank all the mothers who helped with the
clinic.
The Louisville Recreation Department
would also like to give a huge thanks to Mrs. Aljancic for all
of her help, her dedication to the kids and her compassion for
teaching the children that is what makes this program so

Community/Spring
Clean Up
I want to thank all 30 volunteers who donated there
time to come out and help clean the parks and other designated
areas. We gathered
over 30 bags full of trash.
I want to also take this opportunity to thank Mike Milann’s,
East of Chicago, & Pizza Hut for their donation of food to
feed all the volunteers.
We all live in a great community. It’s nice to see
everyone pull together for a good cause and to help keep
Louisville Clean. To
all the organizations that helped out, please visit the parks in
which you helped clean to see you Adopt a Park sign posted in
the park in August or September of 2006.

Stark County / City of Louisville Recycling Drop-off Center
The
City of Louisville Recycling Drop-off Center is open 8:00 - 5:00
pm, 5 days a week for your convenience. The recycling
center is located on the West side of the Constitution Center,
1022 West Main St.
The center has been operating since January 2001.
Recyclable
items we accept & how to bring them:
-
Glass food jars & glass bottles (brown, clear,
green).
Please remove the caps & rinse.
-
Plastic milk jugs, soft drink bottles, soap &
detergent bottles
(with a #1 or #2 recycling triangle on the bottom of the
bottle).
Please rinse clean.
-
Cardboard/paperboard & computer. Please
flatten, keep dry,
put in a paper bag or bundle.
-
Phone books, magazines & newspaper.
-
Steel & bi-metal cans (tin cans & metal
lids from jars).
Please rinse clean.
-
Aluminum cans (no foil cans) will be collected
& donated to the
A.C.B.C. (Aluminum Cans for Burn Children)
-
Clothing items to be put in yellow bins (clothing
items only).
Please
do not drop anything that is not on the list. Starting in
August, the Louisville's Recycling site is camera monitored 24
hours a day. Violators will be prosecuted. For any
